Been quite busy, actually still am. Graduating just right now.
And meanwhile there is another screening of my short film “Berlin” [1] on 3rd, February at the Cinekarree in Aachen [2]. If you missed the premiere in December here’s your chance to see it. “Shotime” is a part of our universitie’s design department moving pictures presentation. If you are around check out our works.

Role of previz

From VES Summit [1]:
Paul Martin Smith (Editor) said previz is being overused, films are being greenlit on previz and then people are shooting the previz. Many mentioned the importance of that magic unplanned spark that happens on set and making sure we leave room for happy accidents and deviation from the plan when needed. Smith also expressed the importance of the creative storytelling process needing time. Cutting on set is not creative, it’s checking to see if basics work. The editor needs time to mentally process the footage.

Meanwhile Part II

I have so much to tell but unfortunately I barely find the time for it. Because a great period in my life, if not the best, happens to end. I’m currently working on my graduation. It will be a huge project with concepts, several corporate designs, programming, production, costumes, life sets and vfx heavy postproduction. All this could not be done without my study mate and graduation partner Frederic Classen.

Right now we are designing a huge Sci-Fi world and a around a solid story. Of course we won’t be alone. Some friends help us with this project. If you feel like having some fun give me a mail. We can need help from every single talented creative mind out there.

I will post more details in future. This post is rather a resume of my studies. I am so glad that I decided to study design. It was such a broad experience with areas I’d never imagined to get to know. And I’m glad that I didn’t have to master all of them but met people who have same enthusiasm and talent for these areas as I (hopefully tried to) have in mine. Fortunately it wasn’t all about work. Many people became my friends, few of them very close although the challenge of our jobs forced many of them to live apart all over Europe. But some of the joined a creative design group during the studies. senari will hopefully help to stay in touch and exchange.

Also I’m excited about future job opportunities. I look forward to keep working as compositor. Also I will keep on going to punish the world with my short films. My latest short film “Berlin” in collaboration with Chris Bucanac is currently in its end stage of editing and will be hopefully premiered in November.

As you may notice there was no real update for a while here.

This normally means that I am quite busy with real-life. This months I worked on some incredible projects in Düsseldorf, Hamburg and the world famous metropolis Recklinghausen.

Also we shot most parts of the short film “Berlin” and I am now preparing my graduation project.

John Lurie Art

Head over to John Lurie’s online art gallery [1] not only for his (hilarious, sometimes deeply emotional, sometimes entertaining) pieces but also for a great fake jazz song. John retired from showbiz and focused on art some years ago. What a loss for music and film. Look for him in his paintings.

There is a good reason why trash includes art backwards. I don’t think John Lurie is part of that reason. But I don’t think that much.
